The Sibling Project would like to invite those located outside of Norway who are interested in becoming a SIBS group leader to an international SIBS group leader training. The training will be held in English, and will be delivered online via video conference. It will qualify participants to become licensed SIBS group leaders, enabling implementation of the SIBS intervention in your own workplace. 

We believe this will be a valuable opportunity both for professional development and for cultural exchange between participating institutions.  

 

Course dates and schedule  

To accommodate participants from different time zones, the course will be spread across three days.  

All times are Central European Time (CET):  

  • Day 1: 12 October, 09:00–11:30  
  • Day 2: 14 October, 09:00–13:15  
  • Day 3: 16 October, 09:00–14:00  

  

Participants from each institution  

Due to the interactive and role‑based nature of the training, which includes role‑playing as parents, children, facilitators, and group leaders, we recommend that four people per institution are trained as group leaders at the same time. A minimum of two future group leaders is required.  

As this is an international course, we aim to make it possible for role‑plays to be conducted in participants’ own languages. For this reason, we ask institutions to bring a total of five participants.  

  • If some participants do not meet the criteria for group leader training, they may still take part in role‑plays as parents or children and gain valuable experience from the process.  

  

Eligibility requirements  

Please note that to qualify for SIBS group leader certification, participants must:  

  • Have a relevant educational background (e.g. educators, psychologists), or  
  • Have formal competence in conversations with children, acquired through education or professional experience (e.g. social workers, nurses, physiotherapists)  

In addition, all participants must be proficient in English, as the training, videos, and all related materials will be provided in English only.  

  

Preparation before the course  

All participants are required to complete a short online pre‑training (approximately 45 minutes) before attending the course. Click here to access the training.  

  

Fee and registration  

The participation fee is NOK 1,500 (approximately EUR 140) per person. This includes:  

  • The full training  
  • SIBS materials used when running SIBS groups  
  • A one‑year license as a certified SIBS group leader  

After the first year, the license can be renewed for NOK 500 (approximately EUR 46) per year.
